In times today, when several ‘senior citizens’ in NFC and the neighbouring colonies are on their own considering the fact that their children are away overseas, or, are resident of another
city in the country owing to the demand of their respective professions/careers, it has become important for us, viz., residents/neighbours, government, authorities to step-in and help our ‘seniors’ wherever we can. NFC RWA (Ashoka Park) does look after its ‘seniors’ and always attempts to assist them in their time of need ! Many a times, the RWA is joined by residents who volunteer in forwarding a ‘helping hand’.
In keeping up with the trend, one of our very own residents, Rajiv Kapoor (A-292 NFC) shared useful information with NFC residents. At “Samvada”, we, in turn, are sharing that information here to enable “seniors” and all who are tirelessly helping them to make use of it, if required. Please NOTE that the Government of India has set up a Senior Citizen Helpline Phone No. 14567. Before sharing this, we, at “Samvada” also verified by calling the number above. It is called the “Elder Helpline Centre” and is open from 8 am till 8 pm. It provides any help/support needed by a “senior citizen” towards issues in respect of boarding/lodging, maintenance, protection from harassment, abuse (both physical and/or verbal), health care, anxiety/stress/depression/distress, loneliness, provisions of medicines, vaccination, etc. Representatives at the centre expressed concern with the promise for immediate help. This is a great initiative taken by the Government of India and will definitely extend benefits to those senior citizens who are in need of assistance.
