Friendship Club Meet

40-45 Members were there to meet friends in the Friendship Club meeting of May 2023. In fact every member waits for the meeting, and those who can’t attend always take it as their loss
Our ever pleasant and adventurous Anjali Gogia had an opportunity to visit Kartarpur Gurudwara in Pakistan. It was an eye opening experience. She explained every step starting from Visa, Requisite documents, preparation, movement inside, personal checking, finally visiting the gurdwara and museum, and returning back to India.

Warrior Alka Bhardwaj aged about 80, shared her experience – she had a spontaneous fracture of 4 vertebrae as she fell down on getting up from bed. She was admitted in hospital, treated conservatively, no operation, no plaster etc. Her husband-retired wing Cdr., her son -doctor, grandson etc. were always there to cheer her up in her long admission in hospital. Her will to recover was a very big factor in her recovery!

Finally looked after by a physiotherapist in hospital and at home after discharge. gradually, first sitting, then standing, finally progressive walking. It took her one year to move out of her house for the first time to attend the friendship club meeting to see her friends.

Dr. Pabley adviced audience to keep a regular check on BMD. Oral calcium has no role in checking osteoporosis. As age advances, we tend to come in the red zone and face fractures. Neelima Bhardwaj shared that one can book a seat on line, in Shatabdi train to Amritsar, as there are 3 bogies in train as Darbar Sahib Special, going by them is an experience. Very comfortable and enjoyable Darbar Sahib darshan.

Poems and songs were shared by all talented members. Finally mouth watering snacks with discussion on the valuable knowledge they all had gained that day.
