Sahil Rastogi Memorial Cricket Tournament: Nurturing Young Cricketers

The second Sahil Rastogi Cricket Tournament Under 14 concluded on Sunday, 21 May. It leaves a rich legacy of 16 teams of committed youngsters who competed in various Wonder Club Cricket
grounds in Noida.

The Tournament carries forward Sahil’s dream to play and excel in cricket. A child prodigy with a very bright future, Sahil was being coached by Phoolchand Sharma. However, destiny dealt us a cruel blow, snatching Sahil from this world due to an unfortunate mishap!

No dream can ever be chased alone. The Sahil Rastogi Memorial Cricket Tournament is a vision and an initiative by Phoolchand Sharma (Senior Cricket Coach and Mentor), and Saurabh & Archana (Sahil’s parents) to promote cricket and provide a suitable environment to youngsters to facilitate competing in a professional environment.

For a great event outcome, there needs to be zero-error planning and implementation: the best coaches, excellent cricketing ground, colourful merchandising and sportswear, everything requires great detailing.

After a successful first season, as anticipated, the second one was an even bigger hit! Priyam Garg, a star IPL player of Delhi Capitals, tossed and started the first match of this tournament.

In total, there were 24 league games followed by 4 quarterfinals, 2 semi-finals and a grand finale. It was supported by well-wishers and some famous children’s brands. The finals were a cutthroat competition on 21 May. The Uttaranchal Boys Cricket Academy lifted the trophy. The Chief Guest for the Closing Ceremony was MP Singh, a renowned personality in the cricket fraternity.

The Sahil Rastogi Memorial Cricket Tournament is well supported with trophies, medals, bicycles, Smart TV’s, cricket kits, top branded bags.

A lot of excitement for the third tournament is brewing up; many teams have already registered. There will be more teams for the upcoming cricket tournaments. The core organizing committee is hopeful that cricket buffs and corporate houses would come forward to encourage young talent through sponsorships. This will take the Sahil Rastogi Memorial Cricket Tournament to greater heights!
