Congratulations Atharv Mittal (C-130)
It is said that joy is multiplied every time it is divided, that is, shared with others. That joy was certainly multiplied when SC Mittal (C-130) excitedly shared the Class 12 board result of his grandson, Atharv student of Amity School, who scored 99.4% marks (PCM with Computer Science). He also scored 99.942 percentile (AIR 773) in JEE Main 2003.
While CBSE has not released a merit list this year, the assumption is that this result places Atharv in the top 1% of students in the Delhi region, which is indeed a big achievement. For this, Atharv has been featured in leading newspapers and news channels.
When the Samvada team decided to interview him, I found a very shy boy who looked almost embarrassed to be interviewed. He is a polite, well-behaved, unassuming young man with a genteel smile.
Science interested Atharv from an early age, with his parents, Anuja and Sanket Mittal, being engineers and working with IT firms. His grandfather, SC Mittal, recently retired from IIFCO and was among the first people to start working on computers. While the family hails from Saharanpur, Atharv admits that he has visited his ancestral town only a few times.
Atharv laughingly shared that his CBSE result took everyone by surprise as he was focusing more on preparation for engineering entrance. At one point, the family did think that he might flunk his Class 12 boards as all his attention was on the JEE entrance exam.
Atharv said that he joined coaching early on, but the reason was not to increase his marks but to learn more about science. That interest in time turned into clearing the JEE.
The path to success, according to Atharv, is being consistent. Over time, he increased his studying hours and was in Class 11–12, he was putting in 8–10 hours a day. His mantra was to study for 40 minutes and then take a 15-minute break, during which he would check his phone, play cards with family, or go for a walk with his grandparents.
Atharv named his favourite food ‘parathas with Bhindi ki sabzi” and would play badminton to burn the calories and stress away.
Talking of his results, Atharv said that the JEE result came before the CBSE Board, and there was a mega celebration all around. He was showered with his favourite chocolates by his friends, relatives, and neighbours. The result of JEE Advanced is awaited.
And that is the true hallmark of success: when your grandparents proudly post your Class 12 and JEE Mains results on sector WhatsApp groups. In the lingo of today’s generation who are into memes, “Result aisa lao ki chaar log bole ki result ho toh aisa ho.”
