Decibel and AQI Much Beyond Limits!

Residents have been suffering for years with no recourse in sight

This is nothing new – the sound and air pollution that the families of Block F in Sector 50 are enduring since 6-7 years and see no riddance from it. Discussions have taken place among the
RWAs of the societies (esp. Silver Estate to Stellar Court) directly facing the halls (in Hoshiarpur, Sector 51) that are let out for weddings, ceremonies and functions. They have approached the property owners, who wash their hands off that they cannot ask their clients to play music at a lower volume and use less or no fireworks. Some residents unable to bear their windows and doors rattle with powerful speakers and deafening sound of the crackers have complaint to the police at the late night hour, when they are supposed to stop music; but for that day, the scenario remained the same.

On a suggestion, few residents voiced their concern for the health of the family, the students preparing for exams and the elders who should get a peaceful night sleep through press by calling reporters from prominent Noida newapapers. The affect of this was seen for a few months; the DJs and crackers were soon back, and now with a louder “bang”.

Should this be allowed to be affecting the health of the residents, like slow poison? Few families have shifted out from, we are told.

It’s high time that this issue has to be taken up seriously – collectively by the entire Block F with the highest authorities, administrative and environment watchdogs.

We have 2 strong welfare bodies in our Sector-50 F-block – the Sector 50F Block RWAs Welfare Association and Noida Federation of Apartment Owner Associations. Matter should be taken up by them. To begin with, a signature campaign of 50F residents will be effective. Both welfare bodies have their reach in Noida Authority and the Noida DM office; Noida MLA also resides in one of the societies here. Noida MP has visited 6 months back. They should be approached to have relevant restrictions implemented on the activities that go much ahead the permissible limits.

Residents are happy to see coming up of a Club, the addition of facilities in Meghdutam Park and such developmental work. “But all this gets defeated when their basic peaceful living conditions are deprived of,” say many. Such persistent issues cannot and should not be left without being resolved.
