A few days back, the giant advertisement Sign Board installed at the outer gate no. 12 of sector-61 fell on the ground on the main road due to strong wind storms.
While falling, it also broke the Internet cables but luckily, there was no casualty. It is apparent that the commercial signage steel structure had not been designed for the maximum possible wind loads & moreover no perforations were provided on the display board to reduce the air pressure and as such it has buckled due to high speed winds.
No doubt, such mishaps are life threatening for the commuters on the road.
It is surprising to notice that the hoarding remained lying on the road with bent structure for about a week and the concerned authorities were not at all bothered about its disposal. It continued to be a nuisance and nightmare for the traffic on the road. This gate of course also remained closed and non-operational causing inconvenience to many residents commuting through this route. Anyway, the signage has been removed now and the gate opened. And the residents have heaved a sigh of relief.
However, this incident raises a big question mark on the advertising hoardings installed on the other gates of the sector also.
