Electronic waste is the most dangerous type of waste that leaves maximum toxins in the environment if not disposed of properly. The leachate from these waste seeps into the ground and contaminates the ground water. Hence it’s our responsibility as responsible citizens that we dispose of E waste in a right way. The toxins which are released by E waste are poisonous and can pollute the underground soil.
Residents of Green Park community Main and Green Park Extension along with NGO Sambhav Karo managed to dispose of more than 100kgs of E waste responsibly. We are thankful to Dr. Ruby Makhija, MCD Brand Ambassador as well as General secretary of Navjiwan Vihar and head of NGO Why Waste Wednesdays for introducing us to this way of disposal.
We have propagated awareness among all our residents for e waste disposal and many of them have come forward and helped us in E waste collection. Here is a list of all that you can donate as E waste: power cords, cables, servers, routers, modems, CPU, CRT monitors, LCD/ LED monitors, Mouse, keyboards, power supplies, computer Ups, hard discs, motherboard, amplifiers, speakers, other mix components laptops, Notepad, tablet, printers, toners, cartridges, landline phones, mobile phones, adaptor, charger, tvcrt TV LCD, LED TV, remote, refrigerator, washing machine, AC with compressors,. Tubelights and bulbs are not to be donated as e-waste.
