New Councillor elect Sarita phigat started a green campaigh and distributed cloth bags in B5 and Krishna Nagar area. She appealed to the residnets to say No to plastic and assured everyone that her deaprtment will do ite best to stop the use of plastic in her area. A very good initiative. Hope it suatains. Best would be the drive from Govt to stop the manufacturing of plastic bags and erase the problem from the source. Sadly waste segregation is not being implemented properly. Residents are giving segregated waste to the garbage collectors but we often see them mixing the same in their carts/ rickshws So a comprehensive awareness drive as well as proper education to the garbage pickers is the need of the hour. They all should be eductaed about the importance of segregation and also the right way of waste collection. More importantly the residents need to be active and aware enough to participate in such drives and help in the As responsible citizens it is the duty of each one of us to segregate and home compost our waste and reduce the burden on our garbage’ dhalaos.
