Safe colony and neighbour-hood is important for peace of mind and happy living. Unfortunately in our colony security is at stake and the number of car thefts and at homes burglaries have increased. This situation needs urgent attention.
Many residents have reported incidents of their cars being stolen from their parking spaces overnight, while others have reported burglaries in their homes. These incidents have created a sense of fear and insecurity among the residents. The thought of someone breaking into your house creates a lot of anxiety leading to a decline in their quality of our life. We do not feel safe in our homes when we hear of such cases in our neighbourhood.
To address this very important issue of security in our colony, both the residents and the government must take action. We need to install many more security cameras than at present. The pending work on installing more cameras must be completed at the earliest. Also, adequate monitoring by police under the Neighbourhood Watch Program must be undertaken expeditiously. Along with this, police patrolling in the colony should also increase.
Just last month a car was stolen from E block Sehgal Market 2 and after a few days another car got stolen from outside a house in S block.
Same is the case of home thefts. Thieves entered a residence in M block last month and decamped with a lot of stuff. In yet another incident, a thief jumped inside an E block house right on the main road around 8’o clock in the evening. The thief ran away after the owner raised an alarm. Such incidents reveal the inadequate safety infrastructure in our colony. It is time we spruced up the safety of our colony and make it more livable for the residents.
