The Forum for the Welfare of Senior Citizens conducts a fortnightly program titled Talk over a cup of tea (TKT in short) in its GK-2 facility in which issues related to se-nior citizens are discussed.
Members follow the process of brainstorming to analyze these issues to try and arrive at a meaningful conclusion that could be beneficial to all seniors. This program is co-hosted by Dr Veena Kapoor and Manoj Kumar.
The session held on 25th April23 was dedicated to the International Book Day which was celebrated the world over just two days before. A book reading event was organized during this session in which excerpts from the book titledVoyages` by Dr Veena Kapoor were read out and discussed. The topics that were specifically covered included mental health for the elderly and seniors traveling abroad. The members deliberated on these topics through an interactive conversation that was moderated by Manoj Kumar.
The discussion centered on the psychoanalysis of seniors during which several interesting and lesser known facts emerged. The conversation on such a heavy topic was peppered with interesting anecdotes of an overseas trip that some of the seniors of the group had undertaken to Thailand a few years back. All in all, it was a very stimulating and evocative session that left the members asking for more.
It is such invigorating discussions that keep bringing the members back to these TKT sessions once every two weeks. The session concluded with the members deciding to expand the purview of the program discussions to include current affairs topics in future as well. One hopes the program continues to scale newer heights through such intense and exciting discussions session by session.
