Princeton Celebrates Baisakhi

Baisakhi is celebrated all over the country either on 13 or 14 April marking the onset of the new spring harvest year. This time it was observed on 14 April.

Baisakhi at Princeton was fully marked by the blooming multicoloured flowers on trees, bushes, along the paths and on all edges of our parks.

Though the marked traditional folk dance of the spring festival of Punjab was out of vision, the representatives of different states  in various homes of Princeton flats celebrated it in their own ways. The Assamese celebrated it as Bihu.,Punjabis as Baisakhi,  Maharashtrians as Gudi Padwa, Keralites as Vishu and the Tamilians as Puthandu etc.

To name a few states, punjabis enjoyed by preparing sarason ka saag and Makke ki roti, with pindi chana  as special savouries.

The Assamese prepared Pitha, Laru, Sandoh, and mah korai for Magh Bihu with several varieties of rice.Maharashtrians prepared Shrikhand, Puran poli, and Kanangachi kheer.Keralites enjoyed pineapple rasam, melon veges, beet root thoran etc. Tamilians were happy  by preparing raw mango sweet dish, neem flower rasam and a kheer.

BUT the gesture of happiness and oneness were gleaming on the-faces of residents belonging to various states of our nation. The festive mood and pleasantness had no variation or difference as they are the flowers of  one large garden INDIA

The green meadows, the flowery trees, lush green bushes , the chirping birds ,the pleasant kids, and well attired ladies  made the festival more real and enjoyable.
