Boski’s First Half Marathon

Boski Dhindsa (T10), a mother of two, completed her first half marathon (21.1 kms) in February. She first participated in a 10 kms marathon earlier in the month & then graduated to the half marathon. Her husband, Zubin, has been into running for years & has participated in marathons before. He was her inspiration.

Further, Boski says, “After delivering my second child & getting affected by Covid twice, I realised I needed to do something about my health. I started with low intensity training & workout. Then running seemed impossible for me. I could barely run 100 metres at a stretch. This worried me. I knew I had to do something to keep fit.”

At that time, marathon was a dream for Boski. She’d never thought of attempting a marathon. She began thinking only after being regular with her workouts for about a year. She says, “I started one step at a time with half a kilometre of non-stop running & slowly increased. It took me a lot of effort but being consistent helped.”

Knowing Boski in person for some time now, I knew she has Celiac which entails diet restrictions. Nevertheless, she ensured she ate nutritious food with high protein & hydrated herself.

To balance her fitness routine with her daily schedule, she works according to her kids’ routine. Before her kids wake up, Boski has already completed her morning workout!!

It’s human to feel lazy; so, I was curious to know how Boski encourages herself to run on the daysshe doesn’t want to. She replies, “The most important thing is to show up!! There are days when I don’t feel like getting up from my bed but being consistent is the only way you can do it. Tell yourself that & put your shoes on every day.”

Intent matters! The best advice Boski would like to give to people to start with any sports or fitness regime is, “You can do anything at any age if you’re consistent & show up every day. Slowly, you’ll reach your target. Human body is amazing; it supports you with whatever you want to do. If I could, anyone can.”

Passionate about being outdoors & engaging with friends, family & children, Boski will keep pushing herself & keep inspiring all of us to find our true love & work towards it with dedication. We wish her luck for her future endeavours.
