Cancer Awareness & Detection Camp

On Saturday, 18 March, a medical camp was organized in Club 3 for consultation & mammography tests for women. It was organized by PCPH AOA in collaboration with Dr. Rahul Manchanda.

Mammography is an essential medical imaging technique for breast cancer screening. However, many women neglect this due to various reasons like lack of awareness, accessibility, & affordability. To address this, PCPH AOA organized this free mammography camp.

The machine was set up in a ‘mobile mammography unit’. Patients were attended to by a trained technician. The medical staff courteously & efficiently attended to all. The camp also offered basic investigations & consultation by gynaecologists. They answered patients’ questions & provided guidance on preventive healthcare measures.

PC, PH, Kalypso & Imperial residents, as well as housekeeping & support staff, availed the benefits of the camp. 70 ladies availed the facility; 25 mammograms were done based on doctors’ recommendation. Timely delivery of the reports added to the efficacy of the event.
The camp was a great success. It was well-planned & well-executed ensuring the ladies’ hygiene & privacy. The residents’ response was overwhelming. Many women who had never had a mammogram before got themselves tested. Several cases of early-stage breast cancer were detected, which could be treated effectively, thanks to the early diagnosis.

Residents appreciated the organisers’ efforts to arrange such an important test free of cost. Thank you to PCPH AoA for organizing the camp! A special mention for our volunteers – Anshu Gupta, Ankit Kuchhal, Devyanjali Mathur, Puneet Gupta, Bibek Kumar, & Nrip Mehta – for their help throughout the camp.

NOFAA president Rajiv Singh & Secretary also appreciated the efforts taken by AOA. Such events go a long way in promoting preventive healthcare.
