In most high rise societies across Noida, there is a lot of confusion over the multi-point electricity connection issue. Many residents are confused whether to convert to multi-point or retain the single-point connection.
In this regard the PVVNL officials arranged a three days camp in the premises of Apex Athena where 222 residents were in favor of multi-point connection and submitted their consent forms to PVVNL. It may be noted that the prerequisite for converting to multi-point in any society is that at least 51 percent residents must give their consent for the same. To ease the confusion of residents; experts on the subject have charted out pros and cons of the new system. Let us take a look at them.
The advantages are as follows. The slab wise unit rates will be less in multi-point. In single point a rate of Rs. 7.70 per unit is being charged. With multi-point this will be between Rs. 5.50 to Rs. 7.00 per unit. Based on individual consumption patterns, residents can calculate the difference. There will be no dependence on builder/RWA for main grid supply and residents can safeguard from any kind of manipulation that can be done by the licensee in case of a single point connection. As builders/RWAs tend to distribute more loads to flats and take less sanctioned load from PVVNL, high usage during peak hours can cause tripping of main supply. In multi-point connection, no such issue will be faced as full load is being provided by PVVNL to each individual. Lastly all decisions related to residents’ personal power consumption will be in their control and not dependent on the builder/RWA.
Now let us come to the disadvantages. In case of any issue with your direct supply, residents will have to contact PVVNL directly and the builder/RWA will not be able to assist them in this case. The residents will have to shell out additional one-time expenses of Rs. 20720 to be borne individually. The builder will not adjust this with any amount paid by residents for single point connection which has already been provided. Common area electricity charges which are currently a part of CAM charges will be factored in each individual meter and deducted automatically. With multi-point meters, it will become an additional expense. Fixed grid charges of Rs.110 per KW will be an additional expense for each individual in the monthly bill charged by PVVNL.
Seeing the above advantages and disadvantages, it is up to the residents to decide what is best for them.
