Holi is celebrated every year with a lot of fun and masti. Peals of laughter, running feet, squeals of delight and shrieks intermingled, signify that the festival of colour is underway. Shanti Niketan too is witness to this merriment every year. This year was no different. However this year the ladies of the colony came together to celebrate Holi a little differently.
The Aao Milo ladies’ group of Shanti Niketan continues to meet regularly every Wednesday. The latest foray by the ladies is to meet at Shiva Park, out in the open, amidst the trees, birds and squirrels. March 8th saw them celebrate Holi, the spring Utsav in the park with gujiya, sandwiches and hot tea. Fresh marigolds and rose blossoms replaced gulal.
This initiative brings women together to discuss a variety of issues that interest them, be it cooking, art, theatre, films, gardening, literature and poetry. It is not mandatory for all to attend. Those who are free on Wednesday afternoons enjoy the time spent with others. Those unable to come and join in whenever it’s possible.
They intend to start Zumba soon!
