Green Park Main RWA is known for its Holi celebrations. It starts the day before with Holika Dahan. Usually this ritual was performed in front of the police booth where a big bone fire was
made beautifully decorated with colorful red thread all around it. Pandit Ji used to do Pooja and apply red Tilak on the forehead of members gathered there. Ladies dressed in traditional lehenga and sarees used to participate whole heartedly. After Pooja everyone used to go around the fire with Pandit Ji chanting mantras. Women used to carry hara choliya as offerings to the bonfire.
Unfortunately there was a gap for a couple of years because of Covid. After years of thaw, the present RWA decided to hold the traditional Pooja before playing Holi with colors. The Pujan time, date and place – on Tuesday 7th March 6:30 p.m. and 8th March Wednesday 10 to 11 a.m. was circulated to the residents much in advance. Residents were invited to play Holi with dry colors and Chandan.
Ladies and gents were dancing to the tune of music with colorful faces and clothes. Morning breakfast of Gujiya, Samosa. Tea and coffee were served to all. We all went back satisfied physically and mentally. It was a pleasure meeting your Colony friends in an open and informal atmosphere. It was good fun and we went back slowly with good memories to be preserved, till we meet again next year – God willing!
