Helping Juveniles Gone Wrong

In the past seven months being in security committee I have witnessed catching more than 40 drug addicts with the help of our security guards. Either trying to steal construction material like
rods or things like sewer caps watches, mobiles of workers, Grills installed on nallah side or even the sewer caps. One of them was an amazing incident where a young guy tried to steal from Amul Dairy.

Earlier the ones who were caught were in the age group of 20 -35 yrs. The max was 60-year-old where the man was so high that he tried to walk off with an open motor cycle but could even hold it.

But lately trend has changed young boys as old as 11 years (on sniffing solution) are being pushed to steal.

Even if you catch them you don’t feel like touching them or handing them to the police as they are so young. But because of this addiction they get pushed into stealing.

Recently 0400 hrs two boys not even in their teens brandished a knife on guards patrolling on the outer periphery of the colony near E-1 gate.

It is distressing to think that we are unable to help them get out of this situation.

I request you all to please find out ways to help them out. Let’s try doing something constructive for them, because this is putting them down.
