Holika Dahan:This month was a fun time when the residents of Ram Vihar got an opportunity to celebrate two events back to back, related to Holi ie Holika Dahan and the festival of Holi.
On Tuesday, 07 March, Ram Vihar Holika Dahan was celebrated. Many residents if not all, with family n friends gathered in the basket ball court before the schedule time ie 7.30 pm. Holi recorded songs were played all through the evening. It was a joyous evening with lot of zest and enthusiasm.
There was a bonfire and all the crowd went around it chanting prayers n singing mantras and wishing peace n prosperity for their loved ones.
Flower petals, wheat n barley seeds were distributed to all to shower into the fire. Gujiyas a specialty of Holi was served by the society to one and all.
Dr. B. K. Roy (F- 421) took the initiative and volunteered to take complete charge of the Holi ritual and lighting the bonfire.
A South Indian stall was put up where Idli, Vada n Dosa were on sale. The response was good as it was budget friendly n the preparation also was good.
We look forward for more occasions like this, when children will be free from exams n will be in a relaxed mood to enjoy the celebration.
Holi Celebration: The much awaited Holi the festival of colours was celebrated in Ram Vihar just a day after Holika Dahan. Children and young crowd geared up for the Holi celebration quite early and were seen playing with dry and wet colours around the Society lawn. The elders were mostly confined in their homes and were too happy and content with gulal and tikka. They preferred to have a relaxed day sipping thandai and gorging on gujiyas with their friends. The domestic help took break and house wives were also too happy in managing on their own.
Thus safe holi was celebrated and a nice and quality time spent amongst the near and dear ones. The message we should spread from Holi is that we should leave our grudges behind and focus on spreading love and happiness around.
