G20 is Coming Up
Vasant Kunj remains always in news because of its elite and educated status. But while the whole Delhi is being given makeover for the upcoming big event for India the G20, Vasant Kunj the only alternative to NH8 from airport is still lying neglected. Reason is our own leaders, encroachers and few RWAs. As you come out of Airport area either from the underpass or via Mahipalpur it looks like entering a new neglected sub-city with broken roads, encroached footpaths, BSES Transformers and electricity poles in the middle of the roads, traffic lights operating without caring for pedestrian crossings, peak and night timings and many more. This is my Vasant Kunj, Once was Elite, Educated and Best managed sub-city.
How can we ignore beautiful Nelson Mandela, Sri Aurobindo Marg and many such world class roads with well lit footpaths and sitting areas. I really feel jealous of those area residents. Our Dream Mehrauli Mahipalpur road is in such a neglect state that even the big event like G20 is not able to create a buzz in its development. All because of encroachers and RWAs enjoying their own encroachments, politicians mum and officials helpless, as there is no support from public. Are we going to live in such a mess forever? Law abiding tax paying residents are not showing their interest in raising their voice against this neglected approach of the government and our leaders. Non implementation of MPD means both our governments at the Centre and sate have failed miserably.
This is the right time to demand our rights to have a fully developed infrastructure for Vasant Kunj as per original plan of DDA and MPD2021 now 2041. In 2024 elections are due, the federation of RWAs of VK, RWAs of VK and other organizations shall raise their demands for complete implementation of MPD. We can’t let such a beautiful place turn into slum just because of selfishness of few individuals. Our elected representatives should be sent a strong message by all towards zero tolerance and may face defeat if our plight is not considered and the demands met. Let’s forget our small personal gains and work towards better community.
