A day of India’s pride, Republic Day celebration in The Crescent starts with the melodious song of late Lata Mangeshkar, “Ae mere watan ke logon” reverberating the complex. As everyone gathered in central park, with outfits in tricolor or yellow depicting Basant Panchmi, flag hoisting was done by the ladies of Crescent at 10:30 am. This was followed by impromptu performances by the future of the country, the Crescent kids, reciting patriotic poems, crooning songs and dance performances. Sai, Shubhi, Vamika, Samridhi, Vardhini and little 2-year-old Swarnabh kept the audience spellbound. The ladies also sang a variety of group songs from religious to patriotism to bollywood numbers.
The cancellation of the New Year party was compensated with a brunch where residents savored on chole-bhature and spicy potatoes with sooji halwa.
As sun shone through the clouds, the roar of IAF air planes over Crescent skies marked the end of spectacular parade at Rajpath. It was a day well spent with a feeling of nationalism, devotion and vigorous support for our country.
