It’s an annual ritual!
Every year in the first week of the new year, a female lot of the ‘Jamadaar’ family (as they introduce themselves), rings our doorbells.
Every year they have the same reason to visit asking for support with the marriage of a young girl from their clan, who has lost her parents. It’s been 13 years since I have been observing this ritual. This year, I mustered the courage to ask,’ is the girl still unmarried for 13 years, or is there a new girl every year?’, in response to which she simply walked away.
I did inform the RWA SURAKSHA committee, & was also informed by others that this group of rag pickers doesn’t even work for DLF 2. So the question remains, How do they manage to get into the colony every year?
For this reason, and for the many similar incidents I have personally experienced in the past, I highly recommend complete support to the idea of boom barriers and stricter security norms for the safety of the colony.
