Teams from different departments of Noida Authority, along with inputs and support from residents, have been continuing the initiative of sprucing up the Sector 100 peripheral area. A few milestones that must be shared with all are:
- The Repair of the Rainwater Drain: The rainwater drain that has been a pain point for all residents living this side of sector 100 is being repaired. This is a 4–5-month long project.
- Speed Breakers: Some speed breakers were constructed and painted, after the road was resurfaced to avoid accidents owing to speeding vehicles. There had been a couple of mishaps due to this reason.
- Horticulture: Once the drain work has been completed and adequately covered with eco-friendly drain covers, the horticulture team will get more trees planted along the drain. Some young plants that have been impacted by the slush and debris from the drain repair work will be replaced/ nurtured back to a healthy state.
- The Pedestrian Path: The footpath has been coated with another layer of cement to even out the surface and smoothen the edges for pedestrians’ convenience.
- Paver-blocks and Dust free grass: Some area between the footpath and the service road (from the base of the foot over bridge to Lotus Boulevard Gate One) has been covered with paver blocks.
The remaining area shall be covered with dust-free grass soon as the NGT has stopped the use of paver-blocks due to water table reasons. - Trijunctions: There are two tri-junctions, at either ends of the road: one near the public toilet was constructed earlier but another new one at the trijunction opposite Century Apartments and Prateek Edifice has been constructed.
The construction has been completed and the horticulture department is getting rows of shrubs planted on the edges and getting some big pots with ‘Kaner’ placed there. The entry to the service lane from the point opposite Prateek Edifice shall be blocked as this has become an accident-prone area.
The next step is to make the roads around our area seamless as in other parts of Noida. - Support from our Police Department: The police department has been visiting the area outside Gate One of Lotus Boulevard and Espacia and getting cabs and other vehicles removed.
These vehicles leave no space for free passage of pedestrians, forcing them on to the busy road. Often the repeated offenders are fined. - The Health Department’s Contribution: The Public Health Department is ensuring that the area that was neglected earlier is being swept daily. The vendors have been strictly instructed to manage their dry/ wet waste and empty their bins when the Noida Authority van visits to collect refuse.
- The Ban on Polybags: The vendors in the weekly vegetable market have been repeatedly instructed to stop the use of polybags. These polybags may be convenient to use but we all need to see the long-term impact of their use on the ecosystem and cooperate in their total ban imposed strictly by Noida Authority.
The NGO team and senior officers of Noida Authority have been taking frequent rounds and often fine the vendors. - The Health of the Foot over Bridge: The foot-over bridge connecting sector 100 with Hazipur side has now made the lifts functional during the daytime. The FOB is getting a fresh coat of paint as the structure had started showing traces of rust. The work of painting it is in progress.
Those who use the foot over bridge must have noticed that the pan and gutka stains that had started marking this new structure have been cleaned and two bins placed near the lifts. These will soon be replaced by fixed ones soon. The contractor in charge of the FOB is actively cooperating in this direction.
There is a patch of road at the base of the FOB near Starling Mall that is also being repaired by the Civil Department team. - Vendors: One Vendor Zone has been assigned by Noida Authority. Soon vendors (cobbler, tailor, tea stall) shall be moved to that area. This will enhance the appearance of the peripheral area.
Hope that all stakeholders work in tandem to support the initiatives of Noida Authority and make this part of the city the cleanest and the most beautiful- the Pride of Noida!
