We’ve been receiving sad news of stray cats and kittens run over by speeding cars around the nallah/green belt road and inroads in Greater Kailash-1 in South Delhi for over a decade.
Several years ago, my best friend’s grandfather GR Katyal, resident of Vasant Vihar was hit by a passing car while he was on his evening walk. He passed away the same evening.
This morning once again – a mother of 2 kittens rescued from the colony was found dead run over mercilessly by a passing car. She was a kind mother who fostered both her children as well as her sister’s children when she went missing.
Both mothers, whom I fondly named Sita and Gita, are now dead and their 4 kittens are orphaned and dependent on our humaneness. We can either let them out on the roads pretending we have bigger promises to keep or we can spare a little extra attention.
