by A Resident of Maharani Bagh
We’ve been receiving sad news of stray cats and kittens run over by speeding cars on roads in our colony for over a decade.
Several years ago, my best friend’s grandfather a resident was hit by a passing car while he was on his evening walk. He passed away the same evening.
This morning once again – a mother of 2 kittens rescued was found dead run over mercilessly by a passing car. She was a kind mother who fostered both her children as well as her sister’s children when she went missing.
Both mothers, whom I fondly named Sita and Gita, are now dead and their 4 kittens are orphaned and dependent on our humaneness. We can either let them out on the roads pretending we have bigger promises to keep or we can spare a little extra attention.
In the meantime we got another message from Mr Moitra that 2 Kittens have been run over by some speeding vehicles right outside his guard cabin @ I 17, Maharani Bagh in the last 3 weeks.
Reacting to this post another resident said, “One black one I saw lying on the road in the morning. She was probably run over and lying dead. Couldn’t gather the courage to pick her up as my 2 year old grandson was with me”
