It’s a popular saying in India that Cricket is not just a game, but an emotion. Cricket, in our country, is the most popular sport, loved by all age groups, irrespective of gender, status, reli-
gion, region or community.
Espacians hold the same feeling for the game in their hearts. This year Espacia AOA held the second season of the successful Espacia Box Cricket League.
The League was more inclusive this time with different categories for men, Women and Kids.
EBCL Men’s started on the 28th of October and lasted till the 20th of November and the EBCL for Kids began during the Children’s Day week, giving special focus to the cheerful souls of Espacia. The kids’ tournament was won by the Team “Top Gees” of Veeir from Tower 36.
The EBCL for women comprised one match between two teams. The team led by Simple Gupta of Tower 38 bagged the winner’s title.
The men’s league remained the centre of focus throughout the month. The matches were held every day in the evening, with more matches played on the weekends. The league had specific fixtures of point stages, quarter-finals, semi-finals, and ultimately the final game.
In all, there were 8 teams, one from each tower, and the eighth team comprising of the shopkeepers.
The League received a lot of cheer and excitement from the residents, right from the beginning. The final results of the EBCL men’s resulted in Team 38 Predators emerging as the second-time consecutive champions, however, this time winning against the Aspiring Warriors Team (The Club Team).
The individual titles were won by players of different teams. Ishan Chaturvedi of T32 Super Strikers bagged three titles of Best Batsman(highest runs), Best Bowler(most wickets), and the Most Valued Player of the Tournament. Shakul Aggarwal of T34 Super Kings topped the chart of fielding.
All in all, the second season of EBCL was a huge success, and this time its inclusive nature totally made every Espacian enjoy and live their “cricket” dream to the fullest!
