Somnath Shukla won both the Snooker and Billiards events at the annual Club 15A Championships. In the tournament held from Dec 6 to 11, Shukla fought back from a frame down to defeat Shivam Poddar 2-1 in the Snooker final and prevailed over Ashwani Jain 2-0 in the three-ball version.
The glittering trophies for the winners and runners up were given away by Club 15A President Inderjit Sial, V-P Kusum Chadda and Sec Sanjeev Sareen at a function attended by CMC members and players. Senior member Balwant Singh was awarded the Fair Play trophy. It was Somnath’s third consecutive Snooker win and his second in Billiards.
The annual event, which is eagerly looked forward to by players of Club 15A, was held after a break of two years enforced by the pandemic and saw good participation. There were 32 entries in both formats and a total of 46 matches were played during the six match days.
At the prize ceremony, players expressed their gratitude to President Sial, Secretary Sareen and Sports In-Charge Sachin Kharbanda for the excellent arrangements.
The Ladies Club, for a change, are having a picnic in your park. Over a hundred ladies have confirmed their attendance!
