The Ladies Club of Imperial Court officially started in Jan 2018 – five years ago! Over time, the club grew slowly, adding more members. It withstood 2 years of Covid-19 & now is poised to become bigger & better.
The club endeavours to meet once every month, and these meets are usually hosted by 2 to 3 members. It is the responsibility of the hosts, to scout for a place to host the meet, as well as plan the menu and the activities. Last month, the meet was organised by Pallavi Sharma, Somya Srivastava, and Manisha Jalan, at Ru-Bar-Ru, a ‘clubstaurant’, as they like to call themselves.
The setting was outdoor seating, on a cool early winter afternoon. The sundeck was filled with the laughter and excited chatter of Imperial ladies, all dressed in black or red, adhering to the dress code. Tired of wearing home clothes for so long, we ladies definitely made the effort to take time to look our best. And boy! Each and everyone looked charming – black is a surefire winner!
The party started with welcome drinks and starters. It was followed with prizes for punctuality, with an interesting twist! Thereafter there was a group game that had all of the almost 60-strong crowd on their feet! It then went on to the now-mandatory for ladies club – Tambola!
The lovely evening sun-soaked afternoon turned into a cozy evening when the ladies moved to the counter where the mains were laid out. The party ended with the customary votes of thanks by the hosts, who had taken great pains to ensure that the group had had a great time together.
As I pen this article, there are rumblings of another great get-together being planned for the month of December – this time on the lush green lawns of Imperial Court.
