Once Again… Being close to Nature

by Simarjeet Chadha (edit@samvada.in)

A way from the hustle and bustle of the city, is the largest biodiversity Park of Noida in sector 91. People visit the park in large numbers for a morning walk and spend leisure time with family. One can also see bird watchers with their binoculars to catch a glimpse of the beautiful birds. I was fortunate to be accompanied by my friend’s daughter one of these days. We carried our binoculars and a bird book and set out on our mission to see the feathered friends.

As we entered the park, we were greeted by the loud and shriek call of the Peacock. It was, as if, nature was giving us a signal that we have entered the terrain of the avian delight. We moved ahead and saw a bird with a crest on its head. It was the common hoopoe probing the ground in search of insects. Moving further ahead in the park, we saw the yellow wagtail, the metallic coloured sun bird and the tailor bird moving from one branch to another, mesmerizing the surroundings with their melodious calls.

Further ahead, there were a few puddles of water and a wide variety of birds. The cattle egret, the pied starling taking a dip in the water, the red wattled lapwing and the drongo, perched on a nearby tree young.

We felt relaxed after this walk in the park. It was a visual treat for us. Finally, we moved out of the park with a promise to visit this paradise of nature more often.
