‘Do Not Disturb’ Only on Paper
by Surjit
To check nuisance of promotional / selling un-ceremonial calls on mobiles, the govt had introduced DND (Do not Disturb).
But like the spam e mails, it is not possible to stop such calls coming throughout the day on your mob. Most of the commercial firms have employed almost illiterate and untrained women for pestering the public on phone for the purpose. And most of such calls/sms are from the Real Estate/ Health sector.
Even the medicine suppliers like a big Pharmacy keeps ringing – ‘Koi med kee requirement? Bahut dinno sae aap nae koi med order nahin kee’. One never knew that med has to be purchased every day, like vegetables.
And when you try to ring up the number from which the call was received, the auto reply is ‘dialed number does not exist’. Surely the communication technology has made great progress. What action can be taken against a number which does not exist?

Thank you for bringing up this very annoying and disturbing issue. I have lodged a complaint a month ago regarding this with the cybercrime department but till now no response and feel there will not be any.
There is a dnd app which you are supposed to use for reporting such calls sms. You will find it as dnd app by trai in Google Play Store. Also you need to go and set your status via the app as dnd then these people can not call you once it’s set and people still call you report them even disconnection of the caller numbers happens. I do this on a regular basis and calls stop then they come again and I do this again
