Akhelesh Bhargava, a P block resident, participated this month in the The 18th edition of National Masters Swimming Championship organised by Swimming Federation of India. He participated in various events at the Championship, held at Ambala Cantt in a newly constructed temperature controlled pool.
The swimming pro, Akhelesh having taken part in the championship over the years, brought out his best by securing top positions at 60-64+ age category events. He brought home a Silver medal in 50m and a Bronze in 100m Breast Stroke and also another Silver in the 4x 50m Medley Relay.
An ex-Army Brigadier, who in spite of his chronic health issues till 4-5 years ago like heart surgeries and brain stroke, Akhelesh’s consistent effort year on year to take part in the Swimming Masters keeps him physically active and sportingly zealous. He has been participating in this series since 2015. Last year he won two Bronze medals in the 55-59+ age category.
He deserves all applaud and he’s an inspiration for all. Heartiest congratulations to him and aren’t we all in DLF2 proud be have such a swimming champ in our midst.
