Kartik Deep Utsav in LB Temple

by Vandana Dembla (T-25, F-1804)

Kartik Deep Utsav was celebrated in Lotus Boulevard on 4th November 2022 at LB temple. Kartik Maas (month), also known as Damodar Maas. Damodar means “the Lord when He was tied with a rope (dama) around His waist (udara) denoting a divine pastime in which Krishna’s mother Yashoda bound Him to the wooden okhal (mortar) for being mischievous and stealing butter.

Skanda Purana glorifies this Kartik month, “As Sat-yuga is the best of yugas (ages), as the Vedas are the best among scriptures, as Ganga is best of rivers, so Kartik is the best of months, the dearest to Lord Krishna.”

Kartik is full of Bhakta vatsalya. Any vrata, even the smallest, yields huge results. The effect of performing a Kartik Vrata or different austerities lasts for one hundred lifetimes. Deep Daan is a unique way to celebrate the very auspicious month of Kartik. A person who offers a ghee lamp to Lord Krishna during Kartik, burns away all the sins and receives unlimited blessings.

Melodious sankritan of Mahamantra “Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare, Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare” was performed by H. G. Rupeshvara Gauranga prabhu ji from ISKCON. LB residents were feeling the bliss and so were completely involved and did dancing for the pleasure of Lord Krishna. Along with this Tulsi Vivah was being performed. Melodious Damoda-rashatkam was also sung and all the devotees offered deep to Lord Krishna. This program was organized by LB Residents who are connected with ISKCON. They also do a weekly program at LB called Bhakti Vriksha program, a spiritual family get-together. These devotees also chant Hare Krishna Mahamantra together daily at 6:30 AM for 30 minutes on Zoom. These programs are headed by Deepak Aneja (9910988356) and Suksham Aneja, residents of T-16 F-102. They are the inspirational pillars of our LB Bhakti Vriksha. Please contact them to join the Bhakti Vriksha and continue chanting Mahamantra to get a peaceful & blissful life. Hare Krishna!
