The clarion call, “Each One • Plant One • Nurture One”, given by the Green Your Neighbourhood group of resident volunteers of Noida, resonated with all ages in the cluster of Sectors 93 and 93A in the second half of July 2024, in anticipation of monsoon.
A count of 40 Neem trees were planted on the morning of 14th July, in the central verge stretch running from the T point at the corner of ATS Greens Village till just after the Eldeco Main intersection!
On same day, our cluster of Sectors 93-93A confirmed planting a total count of 773 tree saplings of different varieties! This high number of saplings contributed by residents themselves, included fruiting and flowering varieties of native and hardy trees. The saplings were planted in the cluster’s green belts, in areas adjacent parks, and inside schools and society premises.
Groups of initiative-taking residents from Sector 93A, teamed up again to step onto the central verge and into the green belt running along the Sector, on the 21st July! The enthusiasm of the Sector cluster seemed simply unstoppable!!
In the days after the weekend of 13th-14th, till 21st July, the accounted number of saplings planted as part of the Drive crossed 828! Additionally, 2500 shrubs and medium sized tree saplings were pledged to be planted by Supertech inside their complex, as part of an annual drive. This plantation was simultaneously ongoing through the week, to the add to the overall green cover of the Sector and City!
Volunteering children who train to play basketball in Sector 93, teamed up with resident volunteers of ATS Greens Village, in the green belt running along Sector 93A, on the 14th. Together this team planted 139 variety of Amaltas, Amla, Arjun, Belpatr, Bottlebrush, Imli, Jungle Jalebis, Neem, Papdi, Pilkhan, Pride of India, and Sheesham tree saplings!! This was part of the initiative in the Cluster for Sectors 93 and 93A.
Protsahan, the Learning Centre students led by Abhay Sir in Sector 93, kicked off its plantation drive on the rain-fresh morning of 13th July, from Government Junior School and Government Primary School in Gejha, with support of the teachers at these schools, Nitin Makkar – owner of a popular departmental store and some proactive ladies from Supertech Emerald Court. Between the 13th and 21st of July, Protsahan planted 100 Jamun and Neem tree saplings.
Tree plantation and after care has been undertaken in and around the park adjacent Shramik Kunj I, by Arnaz V. Bhagwagar and Garima Sharma, residents of the cluster, on behalf of their charitable trust. The Trust feeds and looks after street dogs. The ladies shared their exhilarating tree-planting experience with 12-15 children from the community who live in Gejha Village. Together, they planted 101 saplings of Bargad, Jamun, Jungle Jalebi, Kanak Champa, Neem, and Papdi, variety of trees.
Ladies from the Inner Wheel Elite Club District 301, led by Arti Manoj Handa as the newly installed President of the Club, made a fun day of it out in the sun on 14th July! Arti, a resident of ATS Greens Village, made a pledge on behalf of the Club’s Centennial Year. She and her Club Chairperson and Members have planted 101 tree varieties of saplings in the green belt opposite the City Park of Sector 93A. This included saplings of Amaltas, Arjun, Belpatr, Bottlebrush, Neem and Pilkhan.
All this reported activity was just here, in our immediate cluster!! Much of Noida was abuzz with the colour green, as the call given by the Mega Plantation Drive was met with purpose and verve by citizens and citizen groups across the board.
