75th Republic Day Celebrationsin B3 Vasant Kunj

The Executive Committee of B3 RWA Vasant Kunj under Project JAI VEER undertaken by Gandhian Seva & Satyagraha Brigade and supported by the War Widows Association, Delhi had invited Veer Nari Smt. Surbhi Singh, wife of Major Dhruv Yadav, for unfurling the National Flag on the 75th Republic Day, 26th January 2024 at Gazebo Park.

Major Dhruv Yadav (29.12.1983-22.09.2015) had done his schooling from Rashtriya Indian Military College, Dehradun, then joined the NDA, Khadakwasla, a Silver Torch Awardee at NDA, subsequently joined the IMA, Dehradun and was commissioned into 75 Armoured Regiment, the elite combat arm of the Indian Army. He married Smt. Surbhi Singh in 2013 and attained martyrdom during high level combat training exercise in the night of 22 September 2015 at Pokhran.

The celebrations of the 75th Republic Day started with distribution of National Flag Lapel Pin to all who had assembled for the ceremony. The RWA President, Ms. Paramjeet Khanna addressed the gathering with patriotic fervor and was joined by other office-bearers, executive members and senior residents in welcoming and felicitating the Veer Nari Smt. Surbhi Singh, her seven year old son, Master Rehan and brother Mr. Rohit who led the gathering to pay homage to Shaheed Major Dhruv Yadav and then unfurled the National Flag followed by the National Anthem and chants of Jai Hind and Vande Mataram

Veer Nari Smt. Surbhi Singh in her address spoke about the supreme sacrifice of her valiant husband who according to her chose to move forward on his onward journey when she was eight months pregnant and that he always believed in serving the country first even to the peril of his life. She said that our Tricolour flies high with the breath of every soldier’s ultimate sacrifice in defending the unity and integrity of the Nation. In her message, she urged all to be citizens and to do their part and especially to be proud of the defence personnel who perform their duty without expecting praise or appreciation as they are born into and for it.
