74th Republic Day Celebrations in Sec B Pkt 3

The Executive Committee of B3 RWA Vasant Kunj, since having adopted Project Jai Veer last year, hosted on the 74th Republic Day 2023, the First Veer Nari Lt. Col. Ravinder Jit Randhawa (EME Bn., Unit 7002, Amritsar) who braved the loss of her martyred husband, Major Sukhwinder JS Randhawa (Kirti Chakra (P), 167 Medium Regiment, 2 Rashtriya Rifles) to terrorism in Kashmir in 1997, by joining the Indian Army in 1998.

Project Jai Veer is a campaign initiative of the Gandhian Seva & Satyagraha Brigade based on the support of the War Widows Association for the civil society to honour the Veer Naris by inviting them to hoist the National Flag on the Independence/Republic Day as mark of respect for the supreme and selfless sacrifice of their husbands/sons in defending the unity and integrity of our Nation.

The 74th Republic Day celebration was held at the lavish green ornamental Gazebo Park beautified with dynamic mosaic of shrubs and exceptionally high quality seasonal and ornamental flowers. It was also fully decked up for the occasion with tricolor flags and balloons and flowers. The celebrations started off with the customary ‘Dil Mein Tiranga’ ritual of presenting National Flag Lapel Pins to all present. The President of the RWA, Dr GS Yadava was joined by Paramjeet Khanna to warmly welcome the Guest of Honour, Veer Nari Lt. Col. Ravinder Jit Randhawa with a shawl and bouquet of flowers. Accompanied and assisted by the Joint Secretary, Dr Sowesh Pattanaik, Veer Nari Lt. Col. Ravinder Jit Randhawa unfurled the National Flag followed by the rendition of the National Anthem led by Jyoti Sudha Verma.

The President of the War Widows Association, Veer Nari Damayanti V. Tambay (Arjuna Awardee), Guest of the occasion, spoke about Project Jai Veer and also extended an invitation to all present to visit Shaheed Bhawan, office of the War Widows Association, to know about the work that their organisation does for the Veer Naris. The Secretary (Admn), OP Verma offered effusive thanks for Veer Nari, Lt. Col. Ravinder Jit Randhawa gracing the Flag Hoisting Ceremony, driving down from Amritsar on our invite and also all those present braving the cold, including the residents of neighbouring colonies for joining the celebrations.
