Often Park, halls, buildings are named after leaders and warriors, but most names, despite their big deeds, remain lesser known to people. Their deeds, their sacrifices their stories are confined within a limited number of people.
The new generation and some older generations are not aware of these unsung heroes. There are lots of young names with big stories hidden in history and one such name is Lt Puneet Nath Dutt, a soldier who gave up his life, without thinking about himself. He just jumped into action and stood face to face with death just to serve his duty.
Recently, on 29th April Lt Puneet Nath Dutt’s 51st birthday was celebrated in PND park, D block Defence colony in presence of Mrs Anita Dutt and his family. It was a special day for the family and also it became a special day for us … my students and I use this park as a classroom and enjoy drawing classes. On this special day, Children made cards on the theme Indian army and sang National Anthem, and then they were told about the story of sacrifice that Lt Puneet Nath Dutt had made. Children were wonder struck to hear how the army are guarding us sitting at the border and the sacrifices they have to make just so that their people can live peacefully.
I am thankful to the family who came to tell children about this leader. The young minds need channelling and even if one child is inspired and does a good deed in some way in life, we will feel, our efforts to bring life s reality to them and this celebration was worthwhile.
