After a long wait of almost two & a half years, the project to install Hi definition CCTV’s sponsored by Govt of Delhi/MLA funds, was started on 20 the May, 23.
The initial survey was conducted in Sept. 2020 & a list of ten household was finalized on 29.09.20.
Now, when this project started in our block, a few households were not inclined as the façade of the building ownership had changed. However, when SBWS shared the info, asking for more residents to get this facility installed, many readily agreed.
23 CCTVs were installed over a period of three days. Effort has been to cover max lanes.
We have made a request for another 20 CCTV’s.
For the information of all residents, let me share that Delhi Govt had provided 11 CCTVs in 2020 also.
However, these CCTV’s have a drawback that the footage can be seen only within a radius of ten meters on the mobile phone of the user.
There is no monitor provided. One can see what is happening outside the house while sitting at home. There is a storage up to 30 days in the memory & information can be retrieved on the M. Phone.
Initial plan, when the scheme was launched in 2019 was to connect these CCTV’s with a central network & with Police Hqs. However, as far as we know, that scheme has not been implemented.
Anyway, something is better than nothing & it acts as a deterrent for trouble makers.
The users get 25 units of free electricity per camera with automatic adjustment in the bill.
Hope every street of S Block is covered in the next few months.
