More than 100 nature lovers from different walks of life gathered and collectively planted 101 trees at the Pocket C4 Park, Vasant Kunj on July 4.The event was spearheaded by the area Councillor Jagmohan Mehlawat and coordinated by PRERNA Ladies Club, and Vasant Kunj Welfare Society (VWS) led by committed team of Shailu Verma and Satish Dogra amongst others. This event was also graced by dignitaries from Delhi Police, department officials, RWAs & many prominent citizens from Vasant Kunj. They all enthusiastically participated in this plantation drive.
The arrangements for this plantation drive were planned in such a meticulous way that all the plants sourced were perfectly stacked and digging was also done beforehand in order to ensure seamless execution. It took just an hour and a half to plant all the trees through collective efforts of allthe attendees.
Some families had brought their own plants like neem, guava, papaya, chiku, keenu and planted these in remembrance of their loved ones.Hope more and more people are motivated to take up planting as an activity, since it not only provides one with an inner peace but also helps in maintaining the natural ecosystem of Mother Earth.Trees symbolize the strength and inter-connectedness of nature. Their filtering function is a metaphor for purifying negativity, and their branches reaching outwards represent sharing knowledge. Through their resilience, they inspire us to weather any storm. Happy Planting!
