This year 2023 on 26 January, Saptarishi Sangha celebrated Vasant Panchami in the Kailash Dham Community Hall, Sector-50. Vasant Panchami signifies the start of spring season. On Vasant Panchami day, Hindus worship Maa Sarasawati the Goddess of knowledge. Maa Saraswati is also known for and revered for all art forms. She has many names and one of her names is Baag Devi, the Goddess of speech.
The celebration Vasant Panchami began one day earlier with the decoration of the hall with flowers, arranging for fruits and sweets, and by bringing the idol of Maa Saraswati. All the preparation needs active participation of the ladies members, in all these work. The next day, the morning Puja muhurat was at 11 am. All ladies members gathered in the hall at around 9.30 am, dressed in yellow, and stared their work to get the puja place ready and cooking mool bhog for Maa. With the arrival of the Purohit, the puja started. Puja was followed by Pushpanjali and Havan. At the end, bhog Prasad (kichadi) was distributed to all.
The evening cultural programme was designed for Maa Saraswati to pay tribute at her feet and seek blessing from her. The children performed classical programme with great enthusiasm and adults also performed in front of her a musical puspanjali. After the performances, there was simple dinner for all.
Next day, in the morning, there was Visrarjan of idol. Members took the idol for Visarjan of Maa Saraswati and prayed for her to come again next year. We thanked her on correcting and guiding us the whole year.
