In true spirit of the slogan given by our honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi, एक पेड़ मां के नाम, our Corporator Shikha Rai planted 500 saplings in her ward. The plantation drive kicked off on the morning of 19th July at Nandan Van in Greater Kailash. The chief guest was our newly elected MP Bansuri Swaraj who planted saplings with great enthusiasm. She, then, went on to listen to the problems of the local residents.
More than two hundred people attended the event held at children’s park. It has a ticketed entry and above all, one could enter only if one was accompanying a child below 12 years of age. It was a treat to be able to see all the facilities in the park, made available to common citizens at a reasonable fee.
In the drive carried out in the park in Kailash colony, Shikha ji, carried a picture of her mother while planting a sapling in her name.
Another plantation drive was carried out by the Healthy and Happy Buddies of Krishna ji, at the Mahavir ji temple, on August 4, from 9 to 11am. A large number of residents planted saplings, played games, danced and enjoyed a sumptuous breakfast.
