October is a month of festivals. We have Navratras, Gandhi Shastri Jayanti, Dussehra and Karwa Chauth. The programme started with the welcome address by the president i.e. me followed by a melodious Mata Bhajan by Swaran Sharma, Sunita Sharma And Janak Bhatia. There were beautiful group dances to create Navratri mood. Garba and dandia being in the air could not be evaded by Vividha dancers. There was a beautiful duet dance medley on Karwa Chauth theme by Nisha And Anita. Shailaja’s semi classical Ram Bhajan was melodious and apt for Ram Navmi.
There was a prayer for peace as Gandhi ji Shastri ji had always wanted our country to be peaceful and progressive.
Some of our members also put up their handmade decors on display. The major attraction was a stall of candles, Rangoli colours, foot mats etc by children with special needs. This stall was the crowd puller and major attraction for the members. According to the teachers and the co ordinations, 30 percent of the proceeds go to these children. The main aim of inviting these children was to bring the specially abled to the main stream.
Birthday ladies were given gifts and wished for their happy long life.
Fasting ladies were served Vrat Ka Khana where as others had Kachori Aloo , Jalebi and tea. Ladies having Navratra fasts were pleased and happy that they were taken care of. This is the beauty of being together and celebrating festivals in full spirit.
